This was the longest Maggie and I had ever run.

While we have done several 5k and 10k races, and our go-to training route at home is just over 5k, we have never pushed our running beyond 6-7 miles. Luckily, our newfound base, nice new shoes, and our ability to push through difficult situations brought us to the end of the 13.1 miles safely.

Would we do it again? Maybe. But only because it is good timing and is a convenient training milestone. Will we seek out other road races? Probably not. The repetitive high impact of the pavement and uninteresting city scenery were enough make us want to seek out other races. These are not for us, and that’s ok. But, it was a great experience and, like I said, we will probably do it again as an early summer training race.

We are about to head up for some mountain training this weekend around Basalt. Back to the mountains, where we belong.
